"This Is the Place Where We Lift Up The Body Of Christ"

Minister Tony Gill

Tony Gill is "Uniting Families"

Starting a music project with only twenty-five dollars is something most anointed inspired musicians don't want to do, but that is exactly what Minister of Music Tony Gill had when he began his CD project "Uniting Families". Proceeding with a vision from God, the will and determination that he could do it, he set out to reconnect his own family. Minister Gill's family was rich in talent with a history of music making, all he needed was their input, acceptance and cooperation and his vision would come to life. He started his journey in a faith walk that would take seven years to complete, but he did it.  Minister Tony also broadened his perspective in allowing the gifts and talents of others to come before his own, he could have used the numerous songs he had written, but he included songs from others, and as God promised Uniting Families as a beautiful compilation of talented musicians and vocalist, working together. He not only united his own family but the family of the Body of Christ.

Tony shares his testimony, struggles, and victory in his interview with Dr. Anita.  Check the Joy Comes Player and be blessed.  Contact Minister Tony Gill by emailing him at llydgill@yahoo.com.

Susan Elaine Jenkins - Author

Susan Elaine Jenkins grew up a preacher’s kid in California. The oldest of three children, her family consisted of preachers and teachers which gave her the desire to teach.

Ms. Jenkins attended Point Loma Nazarene University in California. After college she taught for nineteen years in California schools both public and private. She began to travel on a Study Quest in 1980 to various countries and that led her to China. This is where she found her love for the country and it’s people.

She has since moved to Asia where she teaches performing arts, at International Schools of Performing Arts. She has lived in China for eleven years, and is currently teaching her twelfth year in a school in China near Shanghai. She recently spent a year back in America teaching and writing at a Ski Resort Community of Park City. While at this resort community she taught music at a Mountain School. Besides teaching and writing, Susan enjoys traveling, reading, and her ongoing Mandarin studies. Also keeping in touch with her family and friends.

Her first book Scandalon tells of her life and the many battles she faced and overcame. Intertwined it also tells of her life in China and the many fascinating people she met there and grew to love. This book invites us into her life and how God has done a mighty work in her and the country of China.

Dr. Anita McLaughlin states that “Scandalon is rich in its account of pain and triumph, confusion and clarity. This truthful and honest depiction of humanness is beautifully illustrated in an enthralling story that touches the very depth of the heart.”

Susan Jenkins describes her life by saying "When the splendid becomes splintered and the glorious becomes gauntleted, there will still be a garden filled with astonishing brilliance hidden somewhere." She further stated that she thinks the idea of feeling at home in China has to do with the fact that she began feeling "at home" with God, and that, for her, involved a great spiritual healing, coming back to a point of rest within God's heart.

I know her story has touched the lives of many people and she will be blessed for sharing her innermost heart with the world!

Scandalon Susan Elaine Jenkins author of Scandalon was our guest on Joy Comes Radio. Don't miss this "Archived" interview as Dr. Anita get's the scoop...

Running from scandal -- in her family, church and community life -- Susan moves from California to China. At first, the adventure of experiencing an exotic culture brings the escape she craves. Gradually, as the layers of mystery and reserve fall away, she gets to know her new Chinese friends on deeper levels. At the same time the self-protective layers around her own heart peel back painfully, exposing her inner brokenness.

In this vivid and transparent memoir, Susan takes us on a fascinating journey into the streets and homes of modern China. The travel memoir is interspersed with Susan's personal story of emotional and spiritual sabotage, shame, and shattered dreams. It all comes together as she opens her heart anew to God's love -- the most scandalous love of all.

Book Review:  Words like stimulating; culturally diverse, spiritually intuitive, enlightening, illuminating-- all describe the work of a gifted author--

Scandalon is rich in its account of pain and triumph, confusion and clarity. This truthful and honest depiction of humanness is beautifully illustrated in an enthralling story, that touches the very depth of the heart .

Scandalon unfolds the tapestry of life in scriptural principals, illustrating the multifaceted complexities of the human experience and weaves a portrait of cultural diversity and international history which is only manifest to an insider.

May God use Ms. Jenkins personal journey of character, heart and soul to reach and restore, revive and rescue, resolve and repair, replenish and release, renew and revitalize its readers into the next phase of their life’s journey.

As I read Scandalon, a scripture kept coming to mind “There hath no temptation taken you but such  as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” I thank God for allowing Susan to share her way of escape. By Dr. Anita

God is too big to put in a box.....

H B a.k.a. Holy Boy

The name is HB (which stands for Holy Boy), and what a magnificent Son of God is he. As a child prodigy in his hometown of Mobile, Alabama, he was dubbed “The Boy Wonder”. Something about him is exceptional. Something makes him stand out in a crowd. Is it his strong voice touched by God’s anointing? Or, is it his baby face and trendy style? Whatever it is, HB is making his way to the top.

The inspiration he receives from icons Stevie Wonder, Sam Cook, Luther Vandross, R. Kelly, and Usher drives HB to make whatever sacrifices it takes to become such an artist. In HB’s own words, “It’s not so much that the icons that inspire me just happen to be key people in R & B, but throughout most of my childhood, any music made me feel complete.” Some of his top gospel inspirations are John P. Kee, Fred Hammond, Kirk Franklin, Deitrick Haddon, Smokie Norful, Kim Burrell, and The Clark Sisters.

With his Southern accent, clean-cut appearance, courteous and affable personality, we can truly say we have a huge Hit on our hands. HB is all about using what God has gifted him with to fulfill God’s ministry through his music. “I knew I could sing, but at other times I knew that I could minister. So I asked myself which one do I really want to be, a singer or a preacher? Then, it hit me; why not do both. That way, I will be doing God’s will. And with my faith, I know that ANYTHING is possible.” HB desires to extend his ministry to the church, the streets, and the whole world for the Glory of God. ( See Music Video and Jada Movie trailer continued on Front Page Issues)

When asked what gospel music has done to change his life, HB says “Gospel music has kept me sane in an insane world; it has given me peace in the midst of all my storms; and, it has given me Purpose and Direction.” HB’s music is his way of sharing God’s love and graciousness with others. Some of his songs use an upbeat tempo that gets you rocking on your feet, to speak of the change of his ways when God took him off the streets. Others, through a more softer toned encounter, encourage you to “Hold On” and be encouraged when times get rough. HB’s music is an astounding story of hope, praise, laughter, understanding, happiness, unity, redemption, faith, and most of all, EVERYTHING working together for your good.

“Despite of what the world says, I encourage you to know God for yourself, because he IS real and he is concerned about you. Having your own relationship with God is more precious than anything that the world can offer you. John 3:16 says “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him, shall not perish but have everlasting life.” So, I encourage you to know Him for yourself. He gave, so now you must give. It’s Your Boy H. B.

LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING Y'ALL ON TOUR. KEEP YO EYES OPEN FOR ME. GOD BLESS ITS YO BOY HB. HOLY BOY 4 LIFE

DAVID CARRUTHERS, Author & Speaker

Conceived out of rape and no stranger to pain, David Carruthers was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder at eighteen, and experienced several mental breakdowns. While suffering silently as a young man, God led David to write Kill Your Giants which speaks candidly about “common giants” that seek to impede us from our spiritual, emotional and financial empowerment.

“Dreams are easily accessible and possible if we lay aside the weights that hold us back,” he states. In Kill Your Giants David analyzes the dangers of lust, anger, rejection, pride and the stubborn voices of fear and gives practical and biblical ways to remove and destroy these giants before they destroy our purpose.

David found his passion in writing poems and songs, in music and in God. For many years he sang with the acclaimed group, Fortress. David has written over 100 songs among them “Tell of His Goodness” a number one hit in Bermuda for Regina Wingate and co-wrote the moving ballad “O Come” sung by Karen Ricketts. At the young age of thirteen he started writing and performing his songs in churches in the Greater Boston area. He is a featured vocalist on the album “Worship in the Style of ‘G’” by George W. Russell where his lead vocal can be heard on the cut “Let's Worship Him.” Being well received as a solo artist, David opened for acts such as Hezekiah Walker, Derek Brinkley and Fred Hammond.
David is a prolific poetic writer whose poem "Tears" was recognized by The International Society of Poetry and his poetry is in framed form in multiple homes across Boston and other areas.

Born in Nottingham, England, David migrated to Boston, Massachusetts when he was twelve and currently lives in Dorchester, Massachusetts with his wife, Wendy.

EVANGALIST KELLY SHANNON OPENS UP ABOUT STRUGGLES IN RESCUE ME
Latest CD Shows Listeners they are not alone in their struggles

Atlanta-Assembly of God pastor, Kelly Shannon releases her latest CD Rescue Me. It is her personal testimonial of past struggles. She collaborates with some of the heavyweights in the gospel music industry. On Rescue Me, Shannon partnered with Rev. Wayne Tate, minister of Manna Church in Fayetteville,  NC . Her band consists of Mark Burchfield, Dave Cleveland, Tony Morra, and Sal Oliveri.

Being a product of a troubled youth and the mother of a special needs child, Shannon relates to the everyday man and woman with her music. She has struggled in life and through Rescue Me she shows the listener that she understands his/her pain because she has been there.

This naturally gifted singer, who ministers’ through music, is a self-taught musician who never sits down to write a song. She finds musical inspiration through prayer. Shannon said, “When I am in my prayer closet the words of song just flows out of me.”

Kelly Shannon has a large fan-base nationally and internationally that has been touched by her anointing. As Rev. Jacqui Strothoff, director of In His Presence Ministries states, “Lyrics of her songs are release like arrows aiming for the centers of our hearts, piercing with love and transforming us by the power of His Holy Spirit.”

This is my Testimony

My Testimony - In Part

Have you ever had times that you didn't know where you belong? Times you questioned your own worth and why you were even here in the first place? Stripped of all self-esteem, and trust, zest for life. Oh the bitterness, the anger, the rage in some instances, pain, and yes, hatred. These are but a few of the emotions I am too familiar with. No, I am not a licensed Psychologist, I am just one that has learned all I know from life experience, not from books, and want to share that with you, in the hopes of encouraging and bringing just a little of Gods light into those dark and scary places.

This is my testimony to the power and unfailing love of God. Some may think this to be somewhat tasteless, but it is also reality, which is something we tend to forget after coming to Christ, we need to remember where we come from, in order to help others get where they are going.

At your darkest point, when you feel the most alone, God will show up and show off on your behalf if you will but cling to his hand, Glory to God!  I had a wonderful childhood, unlike many, yet mine ended at age 17. At this point in time, we had decided to move away. South Texas was home to me many years, all my friends, my boyfriend, my home, my room, my school, everything familiar to me in my life, I felt it was being ripped away...It really hurt me. I tried to talk to my family, but I wasn’t heard...they didn't really "hear" me. Please, always listen to your kid’s there are times they need considered too, do you know what its like to desperately need someone to really hear you, but they won’t? When we got to Louisiana, my whole world went crazy! Within our first year there we lost 2 homes to fire. Work couldn’t be found.

I didn't even have my family like before, that too was ripped away, I felt. I tired to help just like I always had, trying to keep what little relationship we had together, in my eyes anyway. You see up until the point of moving, we had always been very close, so I couldn't understand why this change all of a sudden, and it hurt me deeply.

Little did I know this was just the start of many a nightmare. I will be condensing a lot of this as there are many years to cover.. truly this has been a journey with God; for without him I would not be here. At 17 I was allowed to date a gentleman of age 22, just back from Vietnam; I thought it was wonderful, well it wasn’t, I was date raped resulting in pregnancy of my oldest son.

Beware young people, what’s outside doesn’t necessarily reflect the motives inside.

He picked me up about 7:00 to go to the fair, by 9:00 we were leaving , and he stopped by this bar, that was on the way, he wanted a cold beer to take with him, he told me to wait in the car, you are under age, I will bring you a pop back. I waited; he brought me a coke to drink in a to go cup, I drank it down. We pulled off, pulled up to a light about 3 blocks up, and folks I passed out, completely. I remember nothing, even to this day it is just a blank space. Could this be the mercy of God protecting me from more hurt? Oh yes, indeed.

This is the hard part for me to re-live, so please bear with me. When I came to, I was lying in a strange bed, with nothing but a sheet covering me. I screamed, from the fear and humiliation of being violated in such a way, and he says to me. Shhhh, it’s ok, really its ok, I have a cab on the way and I will ride with you, to make sure you get in the house ok" How cold and sick can a person be?
